In 1927 Tamarack was a Speakeasy with a six card rooms, a bar, a small cabin, and a few rooms upstairs for overnight guests. Angelo Oppio, great-grandfather of the current manager, drew a good hand, and played it well. He won half of Tamarack one night, and later bought the other half.
Today Tamarack is quintessential Tahoe.

Situated on nearly four acres of land one mile from Tahoe City, Tamarack Lodge is a great spot for your next getaway or vacation. The cabins and “poker rooms” are genuinely “Old Tahoe”, and have long been guest favorites. All of the rooms in the two-story building have been improved in recent years, and compare well to other North Tahoe offerings, even those costing more. Twelve of our 21 rooms have complete if compact kitchens; the others all have a microwave oven, small refrigerator, and coffee maker. There is a picnic area, plenty of space for kids to play, lots of parking, and our own artesian well supplying the purest water to your room. Tamarack Lodge is pet friendly, and is frankly a great place to come with your dog. Tamarack is a family business, and we strive to treat our guests well. Please give us a try.
